Victoria uses a variety of techniques, clay bodies, and firing styles to create her work. The East Asian Wedged Coil technique is often employed to build the sinuous forms of freestanding sculptures because it imparts strength to the coiled clay, allowing complex forms. Direct modeling is used for smaller sculptures.
Victoria also creates plaster molds from original solid models to form certain sculptures and wall art. She then uses slip to cast each design several times, which allows for greater experimentation with texture and surface finishes.
A variety of stoneware and earthenware clays are used, depending on the scope of each project. The works are fired in an electric kiln to achieve controlled colors, and pit fired in a metal trash can to invite turbulent smokiness into the works.
